Program Description: American Cancer Society's FreshStart classes are provided when there are interested participants. Smoking cessation information is also discussed in the health district's clinics with pregnant women and parents of young children as a regular part of the services provided. Anti-smoking information is on-hand for all interested community members.
Program Services: Face-to-face counseling and group FreshStart classes. Available in Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington and Wythe Counties and the cities of Bristol, Marion and Galax.
Program site is wheelchair accessible and accessible by public transportation. Services are available to cigarette, cigar and pipe smokers and smokeless tobacco users. Languages: English
This health district participates in health fairs and cholesterol screenings and provides anti-smoking information at these and teaches classes to young people on the dangers of tobacco use. They are also active members of the local ACT coalition and present tobacco use control information to young people and at migrant worker's health fairs.

Program Description: This is a program for pregnant women who are smokers and want the best possible health for themselves and their babies. Breathe Easy Baby! provides information, counseling, support and rewards. The target population must be enrolled in a public health program in the Mt. Rogers or Cumberland Plateau Health districts or be a client of the participating private obstetricians office in the 10 county region in rural southwest Virginia.
